Time of Use & Solar Calculator

Customers who pair their solar photovoltaic system with Time of Use Rates could see significant savings on their electricity bills. Use the calculator below to find out how TOU Rates would affect you. All you’ll need is your Calculator ID Number to get started.

How to Get Your Calculator ID Number

Due to data security issues, Belmont Light will provide a randomized, individual Calculator ID Number that represents your electric meter number. To get your unique Calculator ID Number, email timeofuse@belmontlight.com with your name and address.

How It Works

  • Enter your Calculator ID Number in the box at the top of the calculator tool.
  • The calculator will show you the following figures for both 2019 and 2020 and the 2-year average:
    • Your kWh usage that occurred during the TOU time periods
    • How much your kWh usage would have cost under TOU rates
    • Your kWh generation sent back during the TOU time periods
    • How much your buyback credit would be under the TOU rate
    • What your bill would have been under the TOU rates
    • How much you kWh usage did cost under our current flat residential rate ($0.19317/kWh)
    • The difference between those two costs
  • The pie charts to the right of each table show the breakdown of generation credited under the buyback tariff throughout the year, separated into the 4 Time of Use Rate time periods.
  • Note: Values in the Difference column that appear inside parentheses demonstrate a negative difference from the flat rate to TOU Rates, meaning your costs would be less under TOU Rates. Values not in parentheses demonstrate a positive difference, meaning your costs would be more under TOU Rates. For example, a value in the Difference column of $15.00 would mean you would have spent $15 more under TOU Rates than you did during that time period, whereas a value in the Difference column of ($15.00) would mean you would have spent $15 less under TOU Rates.
  • Also note: The calculator tool is based on calendar year usage and does not take into account your billing cycle. As a result, the usage displayed may not match your billed usage.
