Payment Plans

If you have a past due balance on your account, Belmont Light will work with you to set up a payment plan.  Setting up a payment plan will allow you to pay off the balance over a period of time and avoid service interruption.

SmartHub

Use Belmont Light’s online customer portal, SmartHub, to manage your Belmont Light account and your home’s energy use.  With SmartHub, you can:

  • View your electric and water use, with intervals as short as one hour.
  • View your usage and payment history.
  • Set usage alerts to notify you when you go over a certain threshold of electric use.
  • Set up automatic payments and go paperless with your bills.
  • Make one-time payments.

Income-Based Assistance Programs

Residential Low Income Rate LI

Eligibility for this rate is based on economic need. Applications to demonstrate economic need are available from Belmont Light and must be submitted annually.  Unless customer has medical exemptionresidents must qualify for Residential LI rates.

Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)

Weatherization improvements can include insulating attic and walls, sealing cracks, wrapping water heaters and pipes, installing storm windows, or making other energy-related improvements. Households can expect to see anywhere from 25% – 30% energy savings after improvements are made with estimated energy cost-savings of more than $500.

The WAP program operates throughout the year. Residents who are eligible for the LIHEAP fuel assistance program, receive Social Security Income, (SSI) or receive Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC) may be eligible for WAP.

HEATING EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE RETROFIT TASK WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Belmont residents who are eligible for the LIHEAP fuel assistance and own their own home can get help with heating system repairs or replacement through the Heating Energy Assistance Retrofit Task Weatherization Assistance Program.

During the heating season, eligible homeowners whose heating systems are not working can get free emergency repairs. In some cases, homeowners can have their heating systems replaced. Priority for HEARTWAP services is given to those clients in an emergency no-heat or unsafe heating situation.
